Donald D. Coleman Sr.
Donald Durland Coleman Sr. of Highland Mills died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 91 years old and was a lifetime resident of the area.
The son of Henry E. and Helen Durland Coleman, he was born Oct. 24, 1920 in Goshen.
Mr. Coleman was retired from the Monroe-Woodbury School District Transportation Department in Central Valley. He was a World War II Navy veteran having served in the South Pacific.
He was a parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe and a lifetime member of the Monroe-Chester Sportsman Club.
Survivors include his wife Marie of Highland Mills; son Donald D. Coleman Jr. and his wife Mary of Ridgefield, Conn.; his daughters Barbara Coleman of Bailey Island, Me., and Jane Bruno and her husband Peter of Monroe; his brothers Richard E. of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Benjamin C. of Lake Ariel, Pa.; his sisters Evelyn Faber of Monroe and Clarice Coleman of Saunderstown, R.I.; his grandchildren: Allison Colon and her husband Nicholas of Fishkill, Lindsay Mitchell and her husband Kevin of Rock Tavern, and Elizabeth Bruno and Peter Bruno, both of Monroe; step-grandchildren David Jaehnig and his wife Jennifer of Norwalk, Conn., Stephen Jaehnig and Michael Jaehnig, both of Ridgefield, Conn.; great grandchildren Mason Colon of Fishkill and Owen Mitchell of Rock Tavern;, along with 25 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was scheduled for Saturday, April 21, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe. A funeral service will follow Saturday at noon in the funeral home with Rev. Alex Lever officiating.
Interment was to be held with U.S. Navy honors on April 23 in the Florida Cemetery, located on Bridge Street in Florida, N.Y.
