Cornelia Amore, a homemaker and former lifelong resident of Monroe, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. She was 81.

The daughter of Peter J. Veenboer and Antonia A. Jansen Veenboer, she was born April 13, 1931, in Monroe.

Cornelia was the widow of James Amore, who passed away on July 2, 2002.

She is survived by her daughter Antonia and husband Gerald DeMarmels (her caretakers for the past 11 years) of Warwick and their children Gerald and his wife Vanessa DeMarmels, Kristin DeMarmels and Brian DeMarmels; her son James Amore from Warwick and his child Ryan Amore; her daughter Diane and her husband Scott Richards from Alpharetta, Ga.; her sister Anna Conley from Monroe; niece Nadine Benjamin and her nephews Peter Conley and Phillip Pingotti.

She was predeceased by her sisters Marie Dzierzek and Theresa Pingotti.

Her family’s statement reads: “Mom was a gentle and kind person who always gave her children and grandchildren all the love and support that one could possibly give. Her family was her life. Her smile was heartwarming.”

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe.

Interment will follow in Seamanville Cemetery on Spring Street in Monroe.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dermigny and nurse Kristine for all their help and compassion over the years.
