Clarence ‘Peanuts’ Travaglione

    Clarence J. Travaglione of Central Valley, a lifelong resident of the area who was known by his nickname, “Peanuts,” passed away at his home, Saturday, July 21, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was 94 years old.
    Son of Fred O. and Philomena Mazzone Travaglione, he was born Sept. 18, 191, in Central Valley.
    Peanuts was the widower of LuLu M. Tanner Travaglione.
    Peanuts was a self-employed stone mason, a member of the National Bowling Hall of Fame, a former Woodbury town assessor and assistant building inspector and a member of the American Legion Post #779 in Woodbury.
    He was an avid golfer, was formerly named Athlete of the Century in the Town of Woodbury, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
    Survivors include his children: Frederick E. Travaglione of Cornwall, Ronald J. Travaglione and his wife Virginia of Ellenton, Fla., Philip J. Travaglione and his wife Col. Jennifer Spears of Otterburg, Germany, Beverly A. Travaglione of Boca Raton, Fla., and Brenda J. Suffern and her husband Rod of Central Valley; his grandchildren: Lynda Recchia and her husband Brian, Sara Marquez and her husband Kris, Brittany Hascoat and her husband Ryan, Kayla Travaglione and Kurt Suffern; and his great granddaughters: Madison and Haylee.
    He was predeceased by his siblings: Louis, Anthony, Louise and Esther.
    A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Patrick’s Church, 26 Hunter St., Highland Mills. Interment will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery in Harriman.
    Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
