Celestine ‘Sally’ Emerson

Celestine “Sally” Emerson of Port Jervis entered into rest on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021. She was 102 years old.

The daughter of Edward and Catherine McCarthy Furlong, she was born on Jan. 2, 1919, in Jersey City, N.J.

She is survived by five children: son Brian Emerson of New Braunsfels, Texas; son Geoffrey Emerson of Washingtonville; daughter Margaret Smyth of Sugar Loaf; daughter Lorraine Dente of Freehold, N.J., and Susan Kazmar of Port Jervis; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband John E. Emerson; daughter Gail Caggiano; and son Ray and John “Jack” Emerson.

Mom, Momma, Sally, Nana, Grandma Sally are some of the endearing names called out to her over the many years we were blessed to have her in our lives.

Mom was a previous member of the Sweet Adelines Quartet in the Hudson Valley and loved to sing and dance. She loved her family and we loved her. We are proud to say we were able to take turns keeping her in our care and our homes.

She will continue to live on in all our hearts and ,as Mom would say, “Love you, Love you, Love you!!!”

Funeral Mass was held Jan. 9 at St. Joseph Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Church in Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the T.S. Purta Funeral Home.
