On Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, the Mahoney family lost a beautiful son, brother, cousin and friend to many, at the age of 26.
Brian was born in Nyack on Nov. 11, 1991. He spent his childhood in Salisbury Mills and graduated from Washingtonville High School in 2009 where he played football for all four years.
He loved spending time with his family in Lake Luzerne.
In the winter they would snowmobile and attend the winter festival and in the summer they would ride quads, enjoy boating and spend hours gathered around the fire pit or tiki bar, sharing stories and songs in the evenings.
Brian was a kindhearted and beautiful soul, full of compassion and love. He had an infectious smile and laugh and gave the best bear hugs, which will be greatly missed.
Brian was a forklift operator for Target, Inc. in Wilton.
He will be forever remembered by his loving parents, Michael and Liz Mahoney, of Salisbury Mills; his sisters Beth Mahoney of New Windsor and Kelly Mahoney of Providence, R.I.; his grandfathers Kevin Mahoney of Wilton, Conn., and Wally Syvarth of Lake Luzerne; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
He was predeceased by his grandmothers Shirley Mahoney and Sherry Syvarth.
Visitation was held Feb. 22 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 23 at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Build the Banner of Love, Inc., P. O. Box 8243, Cranston, RI 02920. For more information on the organization, please visit www.buildthebanner.org.
