Ava Marie Hegarty
Ava Marie Hegarty of Chester passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, in Stony Point. She was 19 years old and had been a lifelong resident of the area
The daughter of John-Anthony and Leslie W. Hegarty, she was born May 14, 1993, in Warwick.
Ava Marie was a student at Rockland Community College in Suffern.
Survivors include her parents, John-Anthony and Leslie W. Hegarty of Chester; her brother Thomas P. Hegarty of Chester; her maternal grandmother Lillian Karp of Bonton Beach, Fla.; aunts, uncles, cousins, loving friends and her boyfriend, John Rice of Suffern.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Herbert Karp and both paternal grandparents, Thomas C. and Mary A. Hegarty.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 25, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
A grave side service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Seamanville Cemetery on Spring Street in Monroe with Rev. Alex Lever officiating.
The family of Ava Hegarty will be establishing a memorial scholarship fund to be awarded to a Monroe-Woodbury art student. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made payable to the Monroe-Woodbury School District in Ava Marie Hegartys name.
