Alma Laverna Barnes Vite Clarke, 91, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2023. Alma was born on July 12, 1931, to Alta (Madigan) and Leonard Barnes in Towanda, PA. She had formerly lived in Barefoot Bay, FL, and Central Valley, NY.
Alma was the widow of Robert G. Vite. The joy of their marriage included raising four sons: Brian (Lora) of Central Valley, NY; Glenn (Maritza) of Winter Springs, FL; Scott (Kathie) of Palm Bay, FL; Randy of Myrtle Beach, SC; and one daughter, Bobbi (David) of Bethesda, MD, who predeceased her.
Giving further joy were her grandchildren: Carrie, Brianna, Robert, Kelley, Matt, Scott, Andrew, Robert, Kris, Johnny, Randy, Brian, and Eric; and great-grandchildren: Brooke, Kennedy, Isabella, Aria, Harlow, Connor, Deaglan, Broughan, Ryan, Aidan, Cullen, Asher, Val, Bobbi, and Kyler.
Alma was also the widow of Hugh Clarke. The joy of that marriage included adding four stepsons: Larry of Reno, NV, Kevin (Kathy) of Pittsburgh, PA; Ron (Marian) of Cary, NC; Rick (Donna) of Carson City, NV; and one stepdaughter, Linda (Ralph), who predeceased her.
Giving her further joy were her Clarke grandchildren: Randy, Adam, Marie, Haylee, Jennifer, Suzanne, Brian, Chris, Michaela, Amelia, and Zane; and great-grandchildren: Shonna, Corey, Loralie, Sheena, Tyree, Ryan, Liam, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Patrick, Andrew, John, Jackson, Ella, Charlie, Elijah, Athena, and Meadow; in addition to five great-great-grands.
Alma’s career included BOCES Teaching Assistant, Diet Center Coach, and Woodbury Court Clerk - but her true focus in life was her family. She was a very busy matriarch who spent her time creating treasured memories with each member of her family. We have been blessed.
Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Smith, Seaman, and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 515 Route 32, Highland Mills, NY. A Funeral Service will begin at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Cemetery of the Highlands, Highland Mills, NY.
