— James and Joanne Piscano celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7, 2013.

Just prior to the anniversary, Jim and Joanne, their daughter Donna and her husband Lou and their children Amanda and Matthew and their son James and his wife Kathy and their children Michael and Olivia all celebrated the event on a Mediterranean cruise to Croatia, Turkey, the Greek Islands and Italy. Their son David was unable to make the cruise.

Jim and Joanne lived in the Bronx and met through a blind date set up by their mothers. They married at St. Philip Neri Church on the Grand Concourse, which was followed by a reception at the Concourse Plaza Hotel on 161st Street and honeymooned in Bermuda.

They moved to Monroe in 1970 when Jim joined Avon Products in Suffern as an accountant. They raised all three of their children in Monroe and just gave their best wishes to Amanda and Matthew who left for the University at Buffalo.

Jim and Joanne have certainly followed their vows and have remained together through good times and bad; through sickness and health and have found richness in each other.

Their entire family wishes them many more years of happiness and as was conveyed to them on the cruise “50 years of smooth sailing and many more into the sunset.”
