Monroe-Woodbury blanks Kingston 4-0

On the first day of fall, the Crusaders traveled to Kingston to take on the Tigers in a OCIAA Division 1 game.

The Crusaders entered the game with a 5-1 record on the season, having defeated Valley Central 3-0 last Monday.

The Crusaders started slowly but started taking control of the game about half way through the first half.

After hitting the cross bar on her first shot, Kaelyn Salatto took a pass from Anna Maggi, lowered her sites and powered a shot into the net from 20 yards out.

The Crusaders kept the ball in the Tigers zone the rest of the half but were unable to post another score.

In the second half the Crusaders started clicking and during a seven-minute span just took over the game by scoring threegoals.

First Kayla Harvey scored off a beautiful cross from Josephine Sorce to make the score 2-0.

Next Harvey weaved her way through the Tiger defense and found Salatto alone on the far side of the net where she neatly put it into the Tiger goal for a 3-0 lead.

Finally it was Salatto’s turn to record the assist. She moved the ball down the side and hit Alexis DeLeo breaking down the middle and she put it into the Tiger net to finish off the Tigers.

The Crusaders 4-0 victory brings their season record to 6-1.
