Greenwood Lake. Spring entertainment is in the air

The signs of spring are everywhere: forsythia getting ready to burst into gleaming branches of yellow, ice cream parlors awakening from winter; and temperatures gradually warming.

Greenwood Lake, however, announces its move into spring in the following manner:

· Boat-owners are uncovering their vessels from winter storage on dry dock and gradually making their way back into the lake. Whether pontoon boat, single hull, sailboat, or paddle board, you can watch them appear more frequently on Greenwood Lake’s nine-mile waterway, half in New Jersey and half in New York.

· Little League and Softball Leagues are preparing the young athletes who have already registered for practices and games this season. Newly-elected Mayor Matt Buckley is also the coach of the girls softball team after coaching the Little League for more than 15 years.

· The Lakeside Farmers Market is prepping for its debut this season at Winstanley Park on Windermere Ave. (across from Chase Bank), where many returning vendors from last year include craft beer breweries, distilleries, prepared food vendors, local craft-makers, orchards, and freshly harvested vegetables from Black Dirt region farms: J&A Farm, Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery, Jean-Claude’s Bakery, Campanelli’s Poultry Farm, & Hudson Valley Pantry. The market is starting on the same day as the annual Greenwood Lake Street Fair, the largest festival in the village.

· Lakeside Restaurants, like The Cove, The Breezy, Emerald Point, and The Helm are beginning to unfurl their umbrellas for diners eager to enjoy a waterside meal.

· Free Entertainment at Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park has an incredible lineup of talent that will soon to be posted on the village website.

· Beach Badges are offered at Pre-Season Prices until May 31 for residents and/or property owners in the Town of Warwick, which includes the villages of Greenwood Lake, Florida, and Warwick, and the hamlets of Amity, Bellvale, Edenville, Greenwood Forest Farms, Little York, New Milford, Pine Island, and Sterling Forest. NY Driver’s license or utility bill associated with property in the Town of Warwick required. Village guests may purchase a guest pass for the day and any employee working within the Greenwood Lake school district–whether they live here or not–may purchase a day or season pass. Operating Season Opening Day: Memorial Day Weekend, then open weekends only until June through Labor Day, when the beach is open seven days, from 10 a.m.-6p.m.
