Weaving baskets, creating possibilities
WARWICK-Miani Carnevale will present “Life Stories through the Vessel Form,” a basket-making workshop, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at a private studio in Warwick. Creating basketry as sculpture, with self discovery as the focus, is the basis of this workshop. Participants will use recycled, industrial, man-made and natural materials to construct unique, freeform vessels that reflect their personal view of the world. As an artist and workshop facilitator, Carnevale is in the business of creating possibilities. A graduate of the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Fla., she has studied art in Oslo, Norway, and Florence, Italy. She exhibits her work throughout the United States and is represented in collections nationwide. As a workshop facilitator, her focus is on the art of creating. Her workshops inspire participants to experience a deeper sense of connection and relationship to themselves and the world at large. Some of Carnevale’s work is on display at The Bookstore in Warwick, from October 6 through 27. The fee of $60 includes materials. Reservations are required. Participants should bring food to share.
