WARWICK — Warwick residents may recognize locations depicted in many of the scenes in Matthew S. Field’s new novel, “The Dream Seeker.” “I think Warwick is one of the region’s best kept secrets,” Field said. “Even though the secret is starting to get out, the Village of Warwick is a perfect backdrop.” A mainstream fiction title, “The Dream Seeker” traces the lives of former Yankees’ farm hand, Quinn Powers, and Chicago attorney, Skylar Smart. After a life-altering event happens, Powers creates “Life Dreams,” a make-a-dream-come-true foundation, of sorts, exclusively for terminally ill adult women. When Smart is diagnosed with a deadly cancer, she contacts Life Dreams and becomes a dream seeker. The story follows them from Warwick to Chicago, Antigua, and back on a journey of fate and self-discovery. “The plot is unique,” according to the publisher. “It includes a love story, but isn’t romance. There is action, but it’s not really an adventure. The story features not one, but two antagonists, only one of which is actually human. The author also takes head-on a number of weighty spiritual and social issues including cancer diagnosis and treatment, faith, stereotypes, and destiny.” “The Dream Seeker” is Field’s third book and will be released Nov. 26.
