Warwick Atelier celebrates second anniversary with an open house

| 30 Sep 2011 | 09:16

Warwick - The Warwick Atelier studio art school, 3 Points of View, will hold an open house on Saturday, Jan. 8 (snow date is Sunday, Jan. 9), from noon to 5 p.m. The event is open to the public; from 1 to 2 p.m., award-winning artist Susan Hope Fogel will offer a demonstration of the alla prima painting technique. Fogel is a member of The Copley Society of Art, The Hudson Valley Art Association, The Pastel Society of America and The Warwick Art League. She exhibits her work in galleries throughout the United States and has studied classical drawing at the New York Academy of Art, figurative studies at The Art Students League and The National Academy as well as painting in North Light and landscape studies with John Osborne at The Ridgewood Art Institute. All work at The Warwick Atelier is done from direct observation. Students gain knowledge and skill, creating the foundation and readiness for more advanced concepts of painting. They are led through a series of drawing experiences designed to shift their visual perceptions and teach each of them to “see as an artist.” “Many students have waited years to fulfill their lifelong dream of bringing art and creativity into their lives,” Fogel said. “At The Warwick Atelier both younger and older students, are receiving a strong foundation of drawing and painting principles that will help prepare them for exploration of many different art forms.” The small classes at the Atelier, which comes from the French word for workshop or studio, average four to six students, beginner to advanced. They are designed to insure extra individual attention as students are guided toward a fuller understanding of the principles of drawing and painting. In addition to ongoing weekday and evening classes in painting and drawing, the Atelier offers weekend workshops in Still life, Floral, and Plein Air landscape painting.
