Jeff Ciampa and Mark Egan bring jazz to the Railroad Green Saturday Warwick - It’ll be hot in Warwick on Saturday night, and not just because it’s July. The village’s summer concert series continues with Warwick’s own Jeff Ciampa and Mark Egan, two extraordinary jazz musicians with resumes are so full you won’t want to miss this show. Ciampa has worked and toured with some of the music business’s most demanding practitioners, including Harry Belafonte and Jon Lucia. He studied under the legendary guitarist Pat Metheny and learned improvisation with Charlie Banacos and Billy Bauer. Ciampa also studied classical guitar with William Matthews and performed for many years with Egan and drummer Danny Gottlieb. He’s performed at the Sugarloaf Music Series and some major jazz festivals including JVC in New York City, Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island and both the St. Lucia and St. Kitt’s Jazz Festivals. He is an accomplished writer and collaborator, with two of his own critically acclaimed albums. Egan is one of the premiere electric bassists of contemporary jazz, distinguishing himself as an in-demand session player. He has played on many platinum-selling recordings by Sting, Arcadia, and Joan Osborne, and has recorded with Roger Daltry, Sophie B. Hawkins and David Sanborn. He was a member of the Gil Evans Orchestra for 13 years. Egan also worked with Carly Simon and for the past six years has been a member of jazz guitar great Larry Coryell’s trio. In 1982, Egan formed the band, Elements, with Danny Gottlieb, saxophonist Bill Evans, and keyboardist Clifford Carter. More than 25 years later, Elements remains one of the most potent and highly acclaimed contemporary jazz groups in the world with eight recordings and appearances in over 27 countries. Joining Ciampa and Egan will be Joel Frahm on sax and Karl Latham on drums. The concert begins at 7:30 on Saturday and the Railroad Green. This is a free event, thanks to the sponsors of the music series and the Village of Warwick.
