"Between The Shades," a feature length documentary by Emmyaward winning director Jill Salvino, will be shown Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House, 9 Vance Road in Rock Tavern off Route 207.

The film captures 50 conversations with LGBTQ people, exploring the many different shades of being “gay” in America.

The documentary also suggests that human sexuality is far more nuanced than labels or even a linear scale can capture. It explores what connects us all: our desire to love.

Salvino set out to create the documentary based upon personal interviews of more than 50 people of all genders, colors and sexual orientations. It is an honest, poignant, multifaceted homage to the innumerable types of love and humans that exist.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Rock Tavern (uucrt.org) endeavors to “Nurture the Spirit and Help Heal Our World.” Its Social Action Ministry hosts this event.

A $5$10 sliding scale donation is requested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Light refreshments and discussion will take place after the film.
