Swim and spin classes for teens and adults with disabilities

Small classes for people with physical and developmental disabilities

| 11 Jan 2022 | 11:55

We here at South Orange Family YMCA wanted to let you in on a few new happenings!

Saturday at 9 a.m., we have a new class for teens and adults, age 13 and up with physical and developmental disabilities.

Super spin stars: This class is 30 minutes, with a maximum of 10 riders per class.

The program aims to meet the safety and spin development of each participant.

Small class ratios will ensure each class meets the needs of the rider.

Personal aides are encouraged to ride alongside their client.

This class is all-inclusive, you may ride regardless of your ability.

    First come, first served.

New swim lessons: Adaptive private swim lessons use techniques that place emphasis on swimming skills.

Modified or adapted to accommodate individual abilities, needs, and goals, regardless of age.

Lessons are created for, but not limited to, those with anxiety, physical, sensory, communication or behavior challenges.

All ages are welcome. Please reach out to our aquatics director, Melissa Gillespie @ 845-395-1016 for more information.

We are also hosting monthly blood drives. Our next one is Friday Feb. 4, 12-6 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome!

    This is great stuff!
