SummerStar begins theatrical season with ‘Proof' this weekend

    Middletown-The SummerStar Theatre starts its sixth season this weekend with "Proof," David Auburn's play exploring the mysteries of love and mathematics. During its Broadway run, "Proof" won the Tony Award, Pulitzer Prize, Drama Desk Award, the Drama Critics Circle Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama League Award, and Lucille Lortel Award. It tells the story of Catherine, an enigmatic young woman who faces the challenges of a genius father, her manipulative sister, an unexpected suitor, and a mysterious mathematical proof only to realize that love is the most complex equation of all. Ultimately, "Proof" is about the search to find someone who believes in us and trusts us completely. The SummerStar production features cast members Elizabeth Morris, Stefanie Wisniewski, Gregory Giblin, and Jim Nurre. Stanley Cohen directs the play. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for senior citizens and students. Tickets are free for children ages 6 to 14 when accompanied by a paying general admission adult (this offer does not apply to senior student rates). Group rates and memberships are available. Performances will be held at the Orange Hall Theatre, located on the campus of Orange County Community College in Middletown, at 8 p.m. on June 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19, and at 3 p.m. on June 6, 13, and 20.
