Space Cadet takes off for third season
Sugar Loaf The Air Pirates Radio Theater will perform “Tica Maroo Space Cadet: Kung Fu Amazons of Doom” on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Lycian Centre, in Sugar Loaf. A mixture of live contemporary interactive theater and old time radio drama, the company will once again present a live radio play. An ensemble of six actors portrays all the characters in each episode while the audience is asked to produce all the sound effects. In this, the sixth episode in the series, Tica and her faithful crew must make peace on a planet where men and women have taken opposites in a strange battle of the sexes. Technology has taken control and interpersonal relations have taken a hit on the planet Torudol. Holly Gobelez stars in the title role along with Brian Nieves, Kate Brannan, Mary Lee Shorr, Alan Andrews and Ian Murphy. The series is written and directed by Paul Ellis and each episode is recorded and aired on the radio in the fall. The Air Pirates have received a grant from the Orange County Legislature and the Division of Planning to present a special production celebrating the Hudson, Fulton, Champlain Quadri-Centenial. The “Search for the River Monster” premieres on Oct. 17 at the Lycian Centre.
