Local artist and crafter, Maria Jones, at her program, Artful Tropical Sarongs, held recently at the Greenwood Lake Public Library for its annual International Celebration series. This year the library focused on Polynesian Cultures and presented eight programs and one exhibit showcasing Polynesia. Maria’s program was the kick-off program where the participants hand-painted tropical motifs of the islands onto colorful sarongs, which are traditional Polynesian wear. Maria is shown standing behind participants Jill Nardo, of Highland Mills, Deanne Singer, of Warwick, and Lynn McAteer-Matarazzo, of Greenwood Lake.
