MONROE — Meet Santa Claus at McGarrah’s Stagecoach Inn on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1-5 p.m.

Children will be provided an opportunity to tell Santa their Christmas wishes. In addition, Santa’s volunteer elves of the day will be serving light refreshments for visitors.

Photos of your child with Santa will be available for purchase for $10 and other donations will be gratefully accepted.

In addition, tours of the building will be available on request by the historical society’s tour guides. All proceeds raised by the event will go toward the renovation of the building.

Built around 1800, McGarrah’s Inn was originally a stagecoach inn for early post-revolutionary travelers. It was also the meeting place for the Cornerstone Masonic Lodge, chartered in 1814. The meeting room is one of the three oldest intact meeting spaces for Masonic Lodges in the United States, and the oldest surviving one in New York.

In addition to serving as a lodge, it was the home of Frederick G. Hulse, who served as the mayor of Monroe.

The building graces the corner of Stage Road and Maple Avenue in the Village of Monroe.

the Cornerstone Masonic Historical Society is in the process of restoring this Federal-style building to its original grandeur, as an asset to the community of Monroe. For more information about this event see www.FriendsofMcGarrahsInn.org for more information.
