Robin Greenstein performs ‘get-involved' shows for children

Goshen-Robin Greenstein, singer-sogwriter who straddles the worlds of contemporary pop-folk as well as traditional Anglo-American folk, Afro-American and ethnic Jewish music, will give a children's concert at the Goshen Inn at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8. Playing the guitar and banjo, Greenstein puts on a "get-involved" show for her young audiences. She draws from traditional folk and pop music, classic children's material, and her own songs. Her show includes lots of audience participation, including the sharing of rhythm instruments. Greenstein has experience working with all kinds of young audiences, having toured many public schools and libraries as half of the children's duo Guitar People. She spent three months of 1991 performing at a theme park in Japan for family audiences. She has a recording of music for children titled "Art Is a Language." She was a finalist at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival (1989) in Texas, the country's premier songwriting festival. She has won folk competitions in the Riverbank/Walden Radio Folk Festival and the New Jersey Folk Festival, and showcased at both the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and the Northeast Folk Alliance Conference. Her favorite gig of recent years was singing the national anthem at Madison Square Garden for the New York Knicks. Tickets to her show at the Goshen Inn are $5 for children and $10 for adults.
