WARWICK — Pianist and composer Richard Kimball will play and introduce his latest CD, "Oil City Road," at The Grange, 1 Ryerson Road in New Milford, this coming Monday, Nov. 14.
The dining and entertainment special event offers guests a special four-course meal prepared by Chef James Haurey with a selection of Haurey's own favorite wines opening with passed hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m.
The live piano performance of Richard Kimball will add to the enjoyment and compliment the dinner and wine pairing.
As a longtime in-house pianist at the world famous River Café, Kimball has been performing his unique jazz standards.
Throughout the dinner, Kimball will perform original piano pieces including a selection from his latest CD.
The music is more classically oriented than previous albums, paying tribute to several friends, including Bill Evans, Jobim, and his close friend for 40 years, the Amazon composer, Thiago de Mello.
With Kimball's inspiration and commitment to orchestrate live dinner music at The Grange, Haurey installed the W.W. Kimball upright piano, a family heirloom handed down from his father, to be played by Kimball himself and a select group of pianists who perform at The Grange during the weekly Monday night piano series.
When asked why he chose the name, Oil City Road, Kimball explained: "Well, there's a two track old farm road that begins on Oil City Road, which I often walk thinking about music and my life. Oil City Road seemed like the commonality that held all the pieces together. The views from the old straight and level two track farm road off Oil City Road inspire me."
At The Grange, Haurey focuses on organic and natural products. The menu can change daily based on the in-season produce available from local farms.
The menu reflects a signature cooking style prepared with influences from different methods of cultural cuisines. Haurey also hosts wine and guest chef dinners, prix fixe dinners and welcomes patrons to bring their own vinyl records to spin on a retro turntable.
A place at the table for the Richard Kimball event this Monday is $100 plus tax and gratuity.
Advance purchases are recommended as space is limited.
Menu details along with the selected wines are on The Grange Website and Facebook page.
