MONROE — The Playhouse at Museum Village begins its 17th season with the suspense drama, “The Uninvited.”

Performances are scheduled for May 4, 5, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m., and on Sundays, May 6 and 20 at 3 p.m.

Seeking to escape the demands of life in Boston, “The Uninvited” tells the tale of Pam Fitzgerald and her brother, Roddy, an aspiring playwright, who purchase a rundown, long-empty house in the country cheaply. They discover that a murder may have taken place there, and that evil spirits still haunt the house. Compounding the situation is the mystery about the birth of Stella, who grew up in the house and has won Roddy’s love.

Written by Tim Kelly, the production is under the direction of Terri Brockmann. The stage manager is Bill Schwartz.

The Playhouse’s season continues with the July production of Neil Simon’s classic comedy, “Plaza Suite.”

In September, The Playhouse presents the popular Broadway musical comedy, “The Drowsy Chaperone.”
