M’Lanie Hunter Dance in Chester will once again bring audiences on an adventure with Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King.
The dance studio launches its 17th season with its annual holiday production of Tchaikovsky’s "The Nutcracker" this Sunday at the majestic Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center in Sugar Loaf. This beloved Christmas ballet will feature principal choreography by Dara Jenel, with Caitlin Noonan, Patti Pitiger, and studio owner M’Lanie Hunter. It will also highlight Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo principal dancer Philip Martin-Nielson.
"The Nutcracker" is the story of a young girl's journey to a magical land on Christmas Eve. It is not only Tchaikovsky’s most famous work but also one of the most famous ballets of all time. Often performed during the Christmas season, many families make it an annual tradition to attend a performance.
Middletown native Philip Martin-Nielson trained at the Dance Design School, and has had extensive private coaching with Natasha Bar. Under her he won the gold medal at the Youth America Grand Prix.
Martin-Nielson found his calling as a ballerina with the all-male Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo.
“Philip is a beautiful dancer and a wonderful role model for our dancers,” says studio owner M’Lanie Hunter. “He has taught masterclasses for us, and we are extremely proud to feature him in our production.”
