Orienteering at nature museum

Learn and practice orienteering on Saturday, Nov. 13 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, in Cornwall. Participants will join Betsy Hawes, Judy Onufer and Carl Heitmuller from 10 to 11 a.m. for an explanation of orienteering basics which will include: map reading, trail safety, how to navigate through an orienteering course and compass reading. At 11 a.m. teams will head out on the trails to complete an actual orienteering course. Pre-registration is requested but walk-ins are welcome. Recommended for adults with or without children and children ages 5 and older. Cost: $10 for either an individual or group participating which will include the map, three instructional groups and the course.
