Orchestra will present music by Beethoven

Newburgh — The Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, directed and conducted by Woomyung Choe, will present “Beethoven Beethoven” on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. in the Newburgh Free Academy School Auditorium. The concert will feature over 200 voices from the combined choruses of the Cadet Glee Club of the USMA at West Point directed by Constance Chase, SUNY New Paltz Choir directed by Edward Lundgren, and Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir directed by Christine Howlett. The music will be “Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Opus 36” and “Mass in C Major, Opus 86.” Added to this mix are four guest soloists: soprano Christine Howlett, mezzo-soprano Eunjoo Lee, tenor Mathew Pena and baritone Goonshik Yang. The Shacklett Preview at 7 p.m. is a pre-concert introduction to the evening’s music by Gordon Shacklett. Ticket prices are $25 for reserved seating, $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors, $10 for students, and children under 7 are admitted free of charge.
