Orchestra says ‘Bring the Kids'

Newburgh — The Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, directed by Woomyung Choe, will present a “Bring the Kids” concert for the whole family on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at 3 p.m. in Aquinas Hall, at Mount Saint Mary College, in Newburgh. (Snow date: Jan. 16.) Joe Manglass, “The Dean of Hudson Valley Radio,” is the narrator-commentator, and the pianists in Saint Saens’ musical “Noah’s Ark, Carnival of the Animals,” are two area musicians, Ada Margoshes and Ruthanne Schempf. Schempf will, additionally, start off the evening with a performance of Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major.” Student-musicians from Monroe-Woodbury and Hyde Park High Schools will perform in the concert, too. The Shacklett Preview at 2 p.m. is a pre-concert introduction to the music by Gordon Shacklett. Ticket prices are $25 for reserved seating, $20 for general admission, $15 for seniors, $10 for students, and children under seven are admitted free of charge.
