Orange County seeks nominations for next poet laureate

GOSHEN — Orange County Historian Cornelia W. Bush announced that her office is seeking nominations for the county’s next Poet Laureate, a two-year term position that honors the outstanding work by a local poet and encourages interest in poetry within the county.

“A Poet Laureate informs and inspires, connecting with all generations,” said Bush.  

The appointed Poet Laureate will promote and encourage the reading, writing, and teaching of poetry within the county, will give two public readings per year in Orange County, and will serve as an ex-officio member on the Historian’s Poetry Advisory Committee. In addition, his or her work will be posted to the Orange County Web site.

Nominees must have a published body of work in any of the following formats: books, magazines, newspapers, or music. He or she must be an Orange County resident.
