OC School of Dance ‘Music and Movement' exhibit opens Nov. 23

MONROE — The Orange County School of Dance in Monroe will present a musical performance by its faculty and special guests, in conjunction with its seventh “Music and Movement” art exhibit opening, on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. “Music and Movement” is a series of art exhibits by both local and national artists displaying oils, watercolors, pastels, graphite and sculptures emphasizing the theme of dance and music. The piano trio “The Little Sparrow” will be performed by Maryann Maffei, Celia Herman and Nafisa Manapat. “Tarantella” will be played by Alla Arzoumanov and Nafisa Manapat. Opera singer Lisa LaBella will perform “Tutto E Giogia, Tutto E Festa” from the opera “La Sonnambula.” George Whetstone will also play several viola pieces. Father and son, Sergei and Oleg Arzoumanov, will perform a selection of piano pieces. Sergei Arzoumanov is a winner of the National Music Competition in Tajikistan and has several releases under the Melodiya label. Oleg Arzoumanov has performed extensively in Manhattan, including Carnegie Hall. All proceeds from the sale of artwork supports “Little Feet Dance Company” of Orange County School of Dance; a children’s company that performs 10 to 20 times annually, throughout Orange County as part of its community service project.
