Cornwall — The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will present a Letterboxing Workshop on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m., at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, 20 Kenridge Farm Drive, Route 9W, Cornwall, Letterboxing is an intriguing pastime of “treasure-hunts” in parks, forests, and cities around the world. Participants seek out hidden letterboxes by cracking codes and following clues. The prize: a miniature piece of art known as a rubber stamp — usually a hand-carved creation. Letterboxers stamp their discoveries in a personal journal, and then use their own rubber stamp, called a signature stamp, by stamping it into the logbook found with the letterbox, perhaps writing a note about the weather or their adventures in finding the letterbox. Workshop participants will learn the basics of letterboxing, make a simple letterbox stamp and actually find a box at the museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center. Recommended for adults and children ages 5 and up. Pre-registration requested. Cost: $5. Members: $3. For pre-registration and information, call 534-5506, ext. 204.
