Montgomery Experienced beekeepers program at the O.C. Arboretum
The Friends of the Orange County Arboretum are sponsoring a beekeeping program on Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at the apiary in the Arboretum.
This class is geared for beekeepers with some experience and topics to be covered by professional beekeeper, Rich Sullivan, will include;
• Lighting the smoker;
• Hive inspections and observations; and
• Identifying differences between bees and queen rearing .
There will also be a Q&A session.
Because live bees will be handdled, all participants must supply and wear their own safety equipment, consisting of a veil or bee suit.
This is an outdoor class that will be held at the bee hives; in the event of rain, the program will be postponed to Sunday, July 14, at the same time.
The cost is $10 per person and can be paid that morning with cash or check. Reservations are required. Call 845-283-5011 to leave your name and phone number.
