Monroe PD's DARE program trip to Yankee Stadium set for May 8

    MONROE-The Monroe Police Department will conduct is eighth excursion to a major league ballpark on Sunday, May 8, when the New York Yankees play the Oakland Athletics. First pitch on this Mother's Day game is 1:05 p.m. DARE is the Monroe Police Department's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program within the Monroe-Woodbury School District; it also includes Sacred Heart School. And the event is open to all current and former DARE. "Participation over the last seven years has been tremendous," Det. Rob Compasso, the department's DARE officer. "We've have brought more than 14,000 DARE students and their families to this event. We anticipate at least 2,500 people will attend this year's affair." Information packets will be distributed to the schools over the next week for distribution to the children. Due to the number of people attending, the department asks that groups, who wish to sit together, large or small, submit one form for the group.
