Monroe Free Library hosts World War II veteran Harvey Horn in May

MONROE — On Tuesday, May 23, the Monroe Free Library will welcome World War II veteran Harvey Horn to share his stories and original documents with the public.
In March 1945, Flight Officer Harvey S. Horn was captured by Nazi Germany after his B17 crash landed in Yugoslavia. Horn will share the story of his capture, survival and eventual liberation.
“Being captured by the Germans is not the best of times,” Horn wrote in his book, "Goldfish – Silver Boot." “Being Jewish and captured by the Germans is the worst of times.”
The program will begin at 7 p.m. at the Monroe Free Library. Stop in to register or call the library at 845-783-4411.
