Middle schoolers to compete in spelling bee

    GOSHEN-The Orange-Ulster BOCES Spelling Contest will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, in the auditorium of the Orange-Ulster BOCES Special Education Center on Gibson Rd. in Goshen. Thirty-three students in grades 7 and 8 will compete. They attend public, private, and home schools in Orange County. Students will compete for a chance to win a trip to the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., on May 29, courtesy of The Times Herald Record. The students will represent their middle schools from Chester, Cornwall, Florida, Goshen, Greenwood Lake, Highland Falls, Middletown, Monroe-Woodbury, Newburgh, Pine Bush, Tuxedo, Valley Central, Warwick Valley, Washingtonville, Shawungunk LEAH (Home School), Calvary Christian in Port Jervis, Goshen Christian, and Harmony Christian. The contest is sponsored by The Times Herald Record, Orange-Ulster BOCES, and the Orange County School Boards' Association.
