MONROE — Master storytellers Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder will tell stories at the Monroe Free Library tomorrow, March 17, at 2 p.m.

Organizers said their storytelling skills are “a powerful blend of technique and soul, this Vermont couple presents traditional world folktales as a duo narrative performance, interwoven with traditional Celtic music on harp and concertina.”

Ponder is an award-winning writer and poet whose works have appeared in Esquire, Story, The Transatlantic Review and other magazines. Jennings earned wide acclaim as a modern master of traditional storytelling. He describes himself as “part old-time showman, part bard, part goofy uncle.”

The couple’s storytelling recordings have won Parents’ Choice, American Library Association and Children’s Music Web awards, and have been well reviewed in a variety of publications. Their 2010 CD, “The King and the Thrush,” was selected as a “Notable Children’s Recording” by the ALA.

The program is recommended for families and for kids age six and older. To register, call 783-4411.
