Warwick — Warwick artist Steven Kenny’s painting “Winterlude” is featured on the January issue of Chronogram Magazine. The painting depicts a half-woman/half-tree who is clearly part of her environment and comfortable in it. Born in Peekskill, Kenny attended the Rhode Island School of Design, spent one year studying independently in Rome, and then graduated from the illustration department with a BFA in 1984. He immediately began working as a freelance illustrator in New York City. His client list grew to include names from all corners of the industry, such as Sony Music, Time Magazine, Celestial Seasonings, Random House, United Airlines and Microsoft. In 2007 Kenny left the city and moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia intent upon leaving illustration behind and turning his attention to fine art. Within a short time he was represented by galleries in Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Santa Fe. Working from his new studio in Warwick’s clocktower building, Kenny currently displays his paintings locally at Collage Gallery and other venues in the Hudson Valley.
