    Aug. 30 golf outing to benefit Big Brother/Big Sisters of Orange West Point — The second annual “‘Fore’ The Kids Golf Classic,’ supporting Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Orange County will be held on Monday, Aug. 30 at the West Point Golf Course at the U.S. Military Academy. Officials said golfers and sponsors will help to generate awareness of youth development initiatives while raising the funds necessary for Big Brothers Big Sisters to keep mentoring programs running in Orange County. The 18-hole shotgun start four-person scramble format starts at 12 noon and will be preceded by lunch. The day will conclude with raffles, prizes and recognition over dinner at 5 p.m. Registration is $135 a person, which includes greens fees, cart, unlimited driving range, goody bags, lunch, and awards dinner. There will also be opportunities for contests through the day, including hole in one, longest drive, and most honest. Registration closes on Aug. 16. College bookstore introduces textbook database Middletown — The SUNY Orange Bookstore recently unveiled a new textbook pricing database that will help students get a handle on their potential textbook costs each semester by allowing them to view the textbook requirements of their courses along with the price of each book. The database is part of the newly designed bookstore Web site, which also allows students to buy their books online. The textbook pricing database can be found under the “Buy Course Materials” link at www.sunyorangebookstores.com.
