Historical Society of Warwick reschedules 'Tavern Night' for Saturday, March 12

Warwick - The Warwick Historical Society, which cancelled “Tavern Night” on Feb. 5 due to icy conditions, has rescheduled the event for Saturday, March 12. Same place: Baird’s Tavern. Same time: 6 - 9 p.m. Same price: donation $25 per person and fresh, delicious food from friends and restaurants. Yesterday’s and Eddie’s Roadhouse are supplying main course fare and members are making other hearty tastes. Baird’s Tavern was a stopping point on the way from Philadelphia to Newburgh during the Revolutionary War - a place for warmth, renewal of supplies, news from family and the war efforts. Good grog and substantial food was important to weary travellers as well as locals stopping in for conviviality. It’s the idea members of the Historical Society are carrying on in the year 2011.
