GOSHEN — Hill-Hold Museum will kick off its new season with a Celebration of Spring on the museum’s opening day, Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The celebration at Hill-Hold, the county’s museum showcasing farm life in the 1830s, will feature performances of a traditional maypole dance throughout the day accompanied by music from the Ramapo Fault String Band. In addition, the house kitchen will display HO scale trains representing some of the many railroads that criss-crossed Orange County past and present, including Erie, Conrail, Lehigh and Hudson River, and NJ Transit. Many on display will be running, complete with lights and sounds. Hill-Hold’s front green will host various old-fashioned games including stilts, croquet and hoops with sticks. Tours of the homestead will also be available. Admission to the celebration is free. The cost to tour the house is $3, adults and $2, children. Hill-Hold Museum is located on Route 416 between Montgomery and Goshen. Special events are co-sponsored by the Friends of Hill-Hold and Brick House and the Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation.
