Great Garnets and Fantastic Fossils'

Cornwall Have you ever seen eurypterid, the New York State fossil? Did you know that garnet is not only January’s birthstone but also the New York Sate mineral? The largest garnet mine in the world is right here in New York. Learn more about these treasures at “The Earth Rocks! Great Garnet and Fantastic Fossils,” a presentation to be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Museum of the Hudson Highlands’s Kenridge Farm, Route 9W, Cornwall. Participants will create their own garnet bracelet or key chain to take home. The program is recommended for children ages 5 and up. The cost is $5; members pay $3.
