Goshen grad stars in new TBS comedy ‘Glory Daze'

GOSHEN — Hartley Sawyer, a 2003 graduate of Goshen High School, made his major acting debut in the new TBS comedy “Glory Daze,” which premiered at Nov. 16 at 10 p.m. According to the TBS Web site, the show is a 1980s college comedy, and follows the “fun and awkward misadventures of four freshmen as they navigate college life, trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be.” Based in the 1980s in Wisconsin, the foursome become friends and together pledge the fraternity Omega Sigma. Sawyer’s character, Brian Sommers, is a star baseball player on scholarship, living in his father’s pro-baseball shadow. But unlike his teammates, Brian doesn’t make baseball the center of his life. Sawyer graduated from Emerson College in Boston in 2007 with a degree in acting and directing. According to his mother, Karen Sawyer, he moved to Los Angeles three weeks after graduation to pursue his dream. He held several odd jobs while trying to break into the business. His film credits include the feature Thursday and the shorts “Killian” and “Gizor & Gorm.”
