Exhibit of botanical paintings opens June 22

MIDDLETOWN An Appetite for Art is a solo show featuring the botanical paintings of Ronni Oxley that is scheduled from June 22 through July 19 in Orange Hall Gallery on the Middletown Campus of SUNY Orange.
Although Oxley seldom exhibits her artworks, most of the watercolors in the show have already been seen by hundreds of people because they lead each section, plus the cover, of the recently published cookbook, The Gourmet Gardeners Guide ~ Culinary Delights and Flowers of the Mid-Hudson Valley.
This publication, which benefits Orange Regional Medical Center, is comprised of recipes given by ORMC auxiliary and staff, along with information about flowers, plants and herbs. The book itself is very convenient as its loose-leaf binder rings allow for many more pages to be added and its cover is of high quality.
Oxley, who has lived in Goshen and now lives in Middletown, describes herself as a self taught artist for the most part.
My favorite medium is watercolor, she said in a press release announcing the exhibit, but I have also had periods where I used oils and pastels. I have done wall murals in many homes and also paint scenes on furniture and canvas drop cloths.
Essential information The reception for this show is Sunday, July 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., during which pianist Bev Poyerd will play jazz, show and classical music. The event will be a community happening with the auxiliarys cookbook being on display and for sale.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
Orange Hall Gallery also is open during show times of SummerStar Theatres A Grand Night for Singing, on Fridays, June 22 and 29, and Saturdays, June 23 and 30, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Sundays, June 24 and July 1, from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
