‘Eastern Ripples' starts off this year's Grand Montgomery Chamber Music and Theater Series

    Montgomery — Now in its 23rd year, the Grand Montgomery Chamber Music and Theater series offering free concerts on Sundays at 3 p.m. (unless noted otherwise) at the Montgomery Senior Center, located at 36 Bridge St. in Montgomery. Sept. 26 — Ashley Bathgate, cellist; Lisa Moore, pianist. They will play Bach, Janacek, Prokofiev and more. Check out www.ashleybathgate.com and www.lisamoore.org. The program is titled “Eastern Ripples.” Oct. 17, Sunday at 3 p.m. Special concert. Janice Hall, soprano. She and her New York City musician friends will present the songs made famous by Marlene Dietrich. Free. Oct. 23, Saturday at 7 p.m. Silent auction at 7 p.m. Concert at 8 p.m. Special benefit concert for Music for Humanity. Julie Ziavras, soprano and John Chimino, baritone will present a program of opera arias and songs from “West Side Story” and “Man From La Mancha.” Admission money will be used for scholarships for worthy music students. Donations accepted. Composers will be from the baroque to contemporary. Nov. 21, Sunday at 3 p.m. Jenny Lin, pianist. She will play Bach, Shostakovich, and Chopin plus a world premiere by Laura Kaminsky. Nov. 29, Monday evening at 7 p.m. Special concert — Pine Bush Community Band. Their annual holiday concert. Jan. 23 — Bonnie Ham, flutist, Jason Ham, euphonium player, Ruthanne Schempf, pianist. March 13 — Nagano Makoto, classical marimba player. April 8, 9, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., and April 10, Sunday, at 3 p.m. Special presentation. Women In Arts presents their annual Mainstage production for charity. Title to be announced. May 1 — The Coleman Piano Trio. The group consists of Avron Coleman, cellist (retired from NY Philharmonic), Louise King, pianist (California chamber player), Franco Gennarelli, violinist (concertmaster of NY Grand Opera). They will play piano trios of Beethoven, Brahms and Mendelssohn.
