Classical guitarist to appear at Florida Library

    FLORIDA-Award winning classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will appear at the Florida Public Library on Saturday, May 15 at 1 p.m. Fletcher is a nationally known guitarist in demand as a performer at cultural venues throughout the country. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and has been featured on National Public Radio. The concert will include selections from Fletcher's newest Centaur recording, Mompou -Guitar Works, as well as the popular Sunburst by Andrew York; Leyenda by Isaac Albeniz; new transcriptions of the French composer Eric Satie; Fernando Sor and Heitor Villa-Lobos. The program will culminate with an intensely powerful new work for classical guitar by the Italian guitarist and composer Carlo Domeniconi entitled Koyunbaba. Fletcher's appearance is sponsored by the Friends of the Library as part of Florida's annual celebration of the birth of William Henry Seward, 19th century statesman and village native. The Friends will also hold their Spring Book Sale from 9 a.m. n 3 p.m. Fletcher's CDs, including The Art of Classical Guitar are available at the library for previewing this musician's exciting style.
