MONROE-Visitors experienced the sights, sounds and suspense of a war re-enactment at Museum Village in Monroe. The 29th Annual Civil War Weekend was held last Saturday and Sunday. Visitors strolled through camps of soldiers clad in blue and gray, and watch as re-enactors representing both the North and South prepare for battle. Cannons fired as battling cavalries clashed on the field. They glimpsed at life in the 19th century, both on the battlefield and off. Special presentations this year included: A behind-the-scenes tour of an encampment at night, the drama of a Civil War-era medical tent, square dancing, music, and weapons inspections.
