Chamber music concert to raise money for suicide prevention

    WARWICK — Soprano Jody Weatherstone, Clarinetist Alan Schaffer and pianist Alina Rubinstein will perform works by Spohr, Lindpaintner, Schubert, Schumann and Strauss in an intimate chamber concert at the Warwick Center for the Performing Arts, 63 Wheeler Ave., Warwick, on Saturday, Sept. 29, 4 p.m.
    Weatherstone is recognized for her fine soprano throughout the New York City area. She is an active recitalist and frequent guest soloist with Classic Choral Society and the N.Y. Wind Ensemble among others.
    She will again be singing with the West Point Cadet Choir in December for the choir's 60th annual performance of Handel’s Messiah.
    Schaffer has been playing the clarinet as a regular participant in the Alaria Trio chamber music classes in Manhattan, and more recently at the summer Chamber Music program at Bennington College in Vermont, and has performed most of the major Clarinet Sonatas.
    He is a practicing physician in the area.
    Rubinstein is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice in New York, She also is on the faculty of the New York University Langone Medical Center. She has participated regularly in chamber music and advanced sonata workshops conducted by the Alaria Chamber Ensemble in New York City as well as several other groups. A $10 donation is suggested and all proceeds will be given to the Orange County Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Awareness and Prevention.
