Washingtonville-Spend the summer singing the music of George and Ira Gershwin and Cole Porter with the Classic Choral Society, which will begin rehearsals on Monday, June 14, at the First Presbyterian Church in Washingtonville. A social hour to begin at 6:30 p.m. will allow new and returning members to mingle before immersing themselves in preparations for the choral society's summer program. Light refreshments will be served. This summer marks the society's 45th year bringing choral music to Orange County. "We have members from every corner of the county," said artistic director Janiece Kohler. "New singers looking to share rides to Washingtonville are almost assured of finding a member nearby." Rehearsals for "Gershwin and Porter on Love" will culminate with two September performances accompanied by a small orchestra. Membership is open to any adult with some experience singing in a church, school, or community choir. It meets for rehearsals at the church on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 928-6462 or visit www.ClassicChoralSociety.
