Air Pirates to open fall season at Lycian
Sugar Loaf The Air Pirates Radio Theater continues its fourth season of live radio plays at the Pavilion at the Lycian Centre this fall on Sept. 25, Oct. 16 and Nov. 13. This year the troupe has added a sixth play to their trademark comedy series. Audiences will again be asked to be part of the action as the Pirates give them the toys to make the noise. New this season the plays are being broadcast live over the Internet and locally on WTBQ radio. An ensemble of six actors portrays all the characters in each episode while the audience is asked to produce all the sound effects. The Cue Card Girl lets the audiences know when it’s time to slam a door, make the footsteps and even shoot the guns during the shows. The Pirates even perform the radio commercials live asking the audience to supply the necessary sounds. The company’s fall season opens with “Tica Maroo Space Cadet Take Me To Your Lender.” This episode of the popular comic science fiction series tells the story of Cadet Maroo’s continuing mission. She and her stalwart crew Tex Matrix, MAX LS and AAsAAd are in the outer reaches of space expanding their influence in the vitamin/cosmetic market for Peace and Prosperity Products. During this episode the audience will learn of the special mission entrusted to her and the dangers that lie ahead. Holly Gobelez, of Chester, plays the title character. The other cast members include Brian Nieves, the longest member of the company, Kate Brannan, who also writes lyrics for the shows, Ian Murphy, Mary Lee Shorr and Alan Andrews.
