The Allegro Youth Orchestra recently completed one long month of performances.

“Our students began the month playing for Woodbury Common’s Tree Lighting on Dec. 6,” said Viktor Prizgintas, who co-directs the group with Lise Lindros. “We also played for the Sisters at Marycrest Convent in Monroe on Dec. 12, as well as for our friends at Sapphire Rehabilitation in Goshen on the 15th.”

What is becoming a yearly tradition has been Allegro students flash mobbing the Salvation Army Bell Ringers.

“We did our flash mob when it was a little over 20 degrees," Prizgintas said. "Everyone felt flash frozen after playing a few holiday selections!”

Allegro competed its holiday schedule on Dec. 23, celebrating Hanukkah with Orange County Chabad.

Prizgintas added: “This has certainly been a busy and musical month since along with our holiday performances we have been diligently preparing our students for All-County auditions in January as well as the upcoming NYSSMA solo auditions in April.”
