What's needed is for enough citizens to speak up

In response to the Viewpoints letter from reader Sonia Ayala on Feb. 25, we as citizens must realize that this is a state legislative issue. Thanks to a loophole in the law, members of the state legislature can legally collect their pensions at age 65, whether retired or not. I fully empathize with Ms Ayala, but the best way to fix something like this is for enough citizens to speak up and urge their state representatives to change this, regardless of political ideals.
